The Caribbean Archaeology Project aims to explore the origins and spread of the first pre-agricultural populations in the Caribbean islands, with a specific focus on the Archaic settlement of El Pozito, located on the Samaná Peninsula. Through archaeological excavations, genetic analyses, and paleoenvironmental studies, we aim to reconstruct the evolution of the communities that inhabited these lands before the arrival of agricultural societies. The project seeks to clarify migration routes and interactions between pre-ceramic peoples and subsequent waves of ceramic-producing migrants, revealing the complexity of human adaptation to coastal and marine environments.
